Cataract Surgery

Not everyone is suitable for laser vision correction. The following criteria need to be fulfilled:

  • Minimum age of twenty one years but no upper age limit
  • A genuine need or wish to be more optically independent of glasses or contact lenses
  • A stable glasses or contact lens prescription for at least twelve months prior to the procedure
  • Lack of complicating disease states or injuries to eyes
  • Myopia (short-sightedness) up to -10 dioptres with astigmatism up to -6 dioptres (range extended in special circumstances), or -10 dioptres sphere equivalent.
  • Hypermetropia (long-sightedness) up to +6 dioptres with astigmatism up to -6 dioptres or, up to +6 dioptres sphere equivalent.
