Laser Patient Journey
Are you thinking about investing in Laser Vision Correction but seek insight into what happens on the day of your procedure?
Recently Adelaide Eye & Laser Centre followed the journey of three patients, Margot, Alissa and Phil, that had laser vision correction at Adelaide Eye & Laser Centre.
With their approval, this provided the opportunity to document their laser journey, to be able to show others considering this investment what they can expect. This series of five short 1-2 minute videos provides an insight into their experience at each stage of their journey with us.

Step 1 - Understanding your suitability for Laser Vision Correction
Understanding your suitability for laser vision correction is an important first step.The first step is taking the Online Eye Suitability Test.Taking less than 5 minutes, and by answering 3 progressive questions about your vision, we can start to understand your suitability and present you with information about your best the laser option.
At its conclusion you are provided the opportunity to book your initial complimentary laser vision assessment with one of our expert laser counsellors.Offered either in-house or via Zoom, this 20 minute initial assessment allows us to collect some further details from you, explain your results, and the laser vision option that is likely best suited to you. Step 2 - The Complimentary Initial Consultation
The next step in your laser journey is attending a complimentary initial consultation. Held at our modern, purpose built, and centrally located consulting rooms, expect to be there for approximately 2 hours. Here you will undergo tests, meet our team, including your eye doctor, and leave understanding what your best option is, the costs, and have any other questions answered. You can also book your procedure if you wish to proceed. Watch the video below.
Step 3 - Your Procedure Day
Performed at ParkView Day Surgery, our affiliated day surgery located in the same building, you can expect to be with us for 2 hours and will need someone to drive you home after your procedure.
The laser procedure itself is fast, during which your eye doctor and nurses will be with you every step of the way to ensure you feel safe, calm, and supported. You will feel minimal discomfort and some pressure as the procedure is performed. Watch the video below.
Step 4 - Your Procedure Recovery
After your procedure has finished you will return to the refractive lounge to rest. Here a nurse will go through your medications with you and eye doctor will then visit you in the lounge, to check on how you are feeling, and to to assess your eyes to ensure everything is looking as it should. Then you are able to go home when you feel ready where we advise that you rest for the remainder of the day and night. Watch the video below.
Step 5 - Your Post Procedure Appointment
The following day you will wake to find you are already seeing better, ready to attend your post-procedure appointment which you can expect to take between 10-15 minutes. At this appointment your eye doctor will assess your eyes, discuss your medications, answer your questions and provide advice on how to care for your eyes over the following days while your eyes heal. You can also listen to them talk about this experience via a series of questions that we asked to them after their surgery, and hear how making this choice has impacted their lifestyle. All of them now live glasses and contacts free and enjoy bright, clear vision every day!

Patient Questions with Margot
In her late 40’s, Margot was impacted by presbyopia with astigmatism and so was struggling to see up close as she aged. Wanting to remove the need for reading glasses, while also wishing to improve her distance vision she had Blended Vision using LASIK. She now lives glasses free.
Patient questions with Alissa
Alissa suffered from myopia and astigmatism, meaning she relied heavily glasses or contact lenses for any daily activities and often suffered from headaches when not using visual hardware. Alissa was recommended LASIK and now lives glasses, contact lens and headache free!
